Database Analyst / Programmer

Reports to: ERP Manager

This position will work with a small development team through the entire software development lifecycle of our server solutions. The successful candidate will design, develop, and maintain the database and related components for the next generation of our high end production servers. They will also be involved in architectural enhancements, process improvements, and integration with other components interacting with the DBMS.

Responsibilities

• Collect and document user's requirements
• Design and develop database architecture for information systems projects
• Design, construct, modify, implement and test data models and database management systems
• Conduct research and provide advice to other informatics professionals regarding the selection, application and implementation of database management tools
• Operate database management systems to analyze data
• Design, document and implement various Engineering related projects
• Assist other departments on technical issues as appropriate
• Write, modify, integrate and test software code

Qualifications

• BSc. in Computer Science or least 5 years equivalent experience in a software development role
• Minimum 3 years development experience with relational DBMS
• Minimum 1 year working experience designing and optimizing MySql databases
• Working experience with query optimization
• Working experience developing data access layers
• Working experience with database clustering technologies
• Working experience with stored procedures
• Working experience with J2EE development
• Working knowledge of version control and defect tracking systems
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
• Strong problem solving skills that provide flexible and well thought out solutions

Assets

• Knowledge of best practices for database configuration and DBMS selection
• Working experience developing data access layers using J2EE technologies
• Working knowledge in object-relational mapping technologies
• Working knowledge in UML, OOAD and design patterns
• Working knowledge of database warehouse technologies
